Panerai Luminor Equation of Time

This oil painting of the Panerai Equation of Time is part of my "Face Me" series, where I paint iconic watch faces that fascinate me.

I trained as a painter in Florence, which happens to be where Panerai was born. That connection drew me to this piece, there's something about painting a Florentine watchmaker's design after learning my craft in the same city. The equation of time complication (which shows the difference between solar and standard time) comes from the brand's maritime history, and I wanted to capture that precision on canvas.

I used gold leaf for the numerals and hands to catch the light the way the actual watch does. The black background keeps your eye on the watch face itself, the brushed titanium case, the details that make this particular timepiece so distinctive.
